India who batted first showed some class cricket in the initial overs of the match. The opening partnership put up 231 runs on the board, and this played a crucial role in building the platform for a massive total.

Shikhar Dhawan was in his best, and he scored 113 runs from 107 balls. His innings was comprised of 14 boundaries and 3 maximums.
With the help of 13 boundaries and 2 sixes, Rahane scored, 111 from 108 balls. Suresh Raina also gave ample support in building the innings, and he scored a quick 52 in sky rocketing speed.
Sri Lanka on the other hand failed to build the innings in a steady manner. No players in the side succeeded to score even a fifty, and their top scorer is Mahela Jayawardane who made a struggling 43.
Ishanth Sharma was the king pin in the Indian Bowling side, and he shattered the Sri Lankan Batting line up by picking four wickets, conceding just 34 runs. Umesh Yadav picked two, supported by Raina and Ashwain who grabbed one wicket each.
