Apple’s upcoming “BatteryIntelligence” feature promises to provide estimated charging times for iPhone users. Apple is reportedly preparing to release a new iPhone charging feature called “BatteryIntelligence.” Uncovered in the code of the iOS 18.2 beta by 9to5Mac, this feature aims to enhance user convenience by offering estimated charging times.

New Charging Feature Details
When users connect their iPhone to a charger, “BatteryIntelligence” will provide a notification with an estimate of how long it will take to reach full charge or a custom charge limit set through the existing Charge Limit feature. This is expected to be particularly helpful when using unfamiliar chargers, as the iPhone will automatically assess the power source and calculate the charging duration accordingly.
Following the success of Charge Limit
“BatteryIntelligence” builds on Apple’s recent Charge Limit feature, introduced with iOS 18 and available on iPhone 15 and iPhone 16 models. Charge Limit allows users to set a cap below 100%, aiming to extend battery lifespan. “BatteryIntelligence” goes further by helping users plan charging schedules with accurate time estimates, a feature that has been present on some Android devices but is new to iPhones.
Release Timing and Compatibility
While BatteryIntelligence was spotted in the iOS 18.2 beta code, it’s currently disabled, indicating it may not launch in the upcoming iOS 18.2 update expected in early December. Compatibility details are still unknown, though it may be available only on newer models, similar to Charge Limit.
Apple’s Battery Intelligence could make charging more efficient and improve battery management, showcasing Apple’s commitment to enhancing the iPhone user experience through advanced battery technology.
