On Tuesday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu offered anyone returning a hostage $5 million and safe travel out of Gaza.
Netanyahu declared that whoever brings us a hostage will find a safe path out for himself and his family. “I say to anyone who wishes to get out of this situation. Additionally, we will pay $5 million for each hostage. They have an option, but the outcome will be the same. We will return them all.”
When speaking with Defense Minister Israel Katz at the Netzarim Corridor in central Gaza. Netanyahu stated that anyone who injured a hostage would “pay the price”.
Netanyahu has dismissed the prime minister’s critics’ accusations that he purposefully stalled talks for a hostage release agreement to prolong the conflict and his hold on power. Matan Zangauker’s mother expressed her displeasure at his announcement regarding one of the captives still held in Gaza.
Einav Zangauker’s Accusations
According to Einav Zangauker, the prime minister is trading the lives of the hostages. Netanyahu’s attempt to divide and rule in Gaza through bribes to the kidnappers would endanger the captives. She warned and criticized him for offering money to Hamas.
She references a disputed agreement in which Qatar supplied millions of dollars to Gaza for years with Israel’s support. By saying that It’s unbelievable that the man who funded Hamas is once again offering money to Hamas.
Netanyahu launched the idea in 2018, justifying it as a means to prevent the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and restore peace to Israeli villages in the south.
Zangauker stated that when the prime minister employs this strategy, he has no intention of saving the hostages. Instead, he will keep stalling and sacrificing them and the military to further his political agenda.
Hamas killed more than 1,200 people and took over 250 captive when it struck Israel on October 7 of last year.
The bodies of at least 34 people who were verified deceased by the Israeli force are among the 97 abducted people who are still in Gaza. Israel became upset when several of the people saved during Israeli operations were found dead.
