Stimulus Payments December 2024; State-by-State Breakdown

Stimulus Payments December 2024

Several states in the U.S. are gearing up to distribute the final round of stimulus checks for December 2024. These payments aim to provide financial relief to residents facing economic challenges such as inflation and the rising cost of living.

Here’s a breakdown of the states issuing these payments and what residents can expect.

Arizona

Residents of Arizona who claimed the state tax credit for dependents on their 2021 tax return may be eligible for the Arizona Family Tax Rebate. This program is designed to support families with dependents, providing much-needed financial assistance.

California

California’s Middle Class Tax Refund (MCTR) program, which offered payments ranging from $200 to $1,050, has concluded. However, the California Franchise Tax Board (FTB) has urged residents to activate their MCTR debit cards, as millions of dollars in benefits remain unspent.

Colorado

Colorado’s TABOR refunds, also known as “cash back” payments, are sent to eligible residents who filed a tax return. The amount depends on the filing status on the Colorado state tax return. Most payments based on the 2021 tax year were issued by late September 2023.

New Mexico

New Mexico residents began receiving rebate checks of up to $1,000 last summer. These payments were part of a program to return more than $673 million to taxpayers due to a fiscal surplus. The rebate program is now closed, but it provided substantial relief to many residents.

New York

New York’s School Tax Relief (STAR) Program continues to provide financial assistance to eligible homeowners. Under this property tax relief program, some homeowners can expect to receive hundreds of dollars in relief. The estimated tax reduction per household is approximately $290 for Basic STAR and $650 for E-STAR.
