Incident Highlights Preference for Foreign Exchanges

Yesterday’s incident has underscored why the Indian crypto community often prefers foreign exchanges over domestic ones.

On CoinDCX, one of India’s largest cryptocurrency exchanges, the buying price of the token PEIPEI was ₹0.031, while the selling price was a mere ₹0.000031. This discrepancy, with the buying price almost 1000 times higher than the selling price, clearly indicates a severe lack of liquidity.

Listing of Scam Token

Adding to the controversy, the PEIPEI token listed on CoinDCX was identified as a scam token that had already rug pulled in August. The founder of the legitimate PEIPEI token confirmed that they have no affiliation with CoinDCX, meaning the exchange listed a fraudulent token. This has led to significant financial losses for many users, with some unable to sell due to poor liquidity and others reporting incorrect amounts after selling.
