Swearing-In of Newly-Elected MLAs
The special session commenced with the swearing-in of the 288 newly-elected MLAs. This ceremony is a crucial step in the legislative process, ensuring that all members are officially recognized and can participate in the Assembly’s proceedings. Senior BJP MLA Kalidas Sulochana Kolambkar was sworn in as the pro-tem Speaker by Maharashtra Governor CP Radhakrishnan on Friday, setting the stage for the upcoming Speaker election.
Election of the Assembly Speaker
One of the key highlights of this special session is the election of the new Speaker of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly. The election is expected to take place shortly after the swearing-in ceremony. This election is pivotal as it will determine the leadership and direction of the Assembly’s proceedings for the upcoming term.
Legislative Agenda and Future Sessions
The special session will also serve as a platform to outline the legislative agenda for the newly-formed Assembly. The winter session, scheduled to begin on December 16 in Nagpur, will further elaborate on the legislative priorities and initiatives of the government. This session is expected to address key issues and set the tone for the legislative activities in the coming months.
