As Australia crushed India to win the second Cricket Test at Adelaide by 10 wickets, The cricketing world is abuzz with controversy following a heated exchange between Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj and Australian batter Travis Head.
The incident occurred on Day two of the pink-ball Test, where Head’s stellar innings of 140 runs off 141 balls was overshadowed by a fiery send-off from Siraj.
The altercation began when Siraj bowled Head with a low full toss, leading to an animated celebration from the Indian bowler. Head, visibly displeased, responded with verbal volleys, which Siraj claims were abusive.
The situation escalated further when Head, in a post-match press conference, stated that he had complimented Siraj by saying “well bowled,” a claim that Siraj vehemently denied.
Siraj, speaking to former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh, expressed his frustration, stating, “It’s a lie that he said ‘well bowled’ to me. You can see what he actually said on TV. Initially, I only celebrated, but he was the one who started the conversation”.
Siraj also emphasized his respect for the game and his opponents, adding, “Cricket is a gentleman’s game, but the way he acted after getting out was uncalled for”.
