2024 SUV Launches in India: From Hyundai Alcazar to Nissan Magnite

The year 2024 has proven to be a blessed year for the Indian Automotive industry. Especially about the commercialization of SUVs. Many car makers annually introduce many SUVs to the market segments’ demands. Categories include compact SUVs and large, opulent vehicles for the wealthy. Now, it’s time to explore the best features of the SUVs launched in India in 2024.

The compact SUV segment remains as interesting as ever. This is a breakthrough, especially with the introduction of the Tata Curvv and the Tata Curvv EV. These fresh and smooth SUVs are socially appropriate models with great potential for rough ground traffic. Both Kia and Hyundai have also breathed new life into their best sellers. Both the Kia Sonet facelift and Hyundai Creta facelift get new styling, new features, and also a new level of performance.

Kia Sonet 2024

Kia Moter Company debuted the new face-lifted Kia Sonet with upgraded looks and standardised safety features for India. It also includes advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). Other new features are the 10.25-inch digital driver display and 360-degree camera. The vehicle is available in three powertrains, one of which is a 1-litre turbo petrol providing 120 PS power output. Along with the facelift Kia also brought back the option of manual transmission for the 1.5-litre diesel engine.

Price: Rs 7.99 lakh to Rs 15.76 lakh (ex-showroom) 

Hyundai Creta And Creta N Line 2024

Hyundai did minor surgery on the Creta, and it got some exterior and interior tweaks as well. The 2024 Creta also feature a 160 PS 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine similar to the Verna sedan. The new features are a dual 10.25-inch display audio, a Dual 10.25-inch display cluster. It also has Dual-Zone Automatic Climate Control, a 360-degree camera, and an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS).

This year, more developments included the release of the Creta N Line with improved specifications when compared to a standard model. Some of these are external and internal colour insertions in red hue, higher spring rate suspension with faster turning ratio, and optionally 6-speed manual with 160 PS 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine.

Creta Price: Rs 11 lakh to Rs 20.29 lakh (ex-showroom) 

Creta N Line Price: Rs 16.82 lakh to Rs 20.44 lakh (ex-showroom)

Mahindra Thar Roxx

After the Thar launch, Mahindra has enhanced the production range for the Thar with the release of the 5-door Thar Roxx. Apart from the design changes, the Thar Roxx also has a more upmarket interior and features like ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, wireless charging for phones, etc., compared to the 3-door model. It comes with up to 177 PS/ 380 Nm 2-litre turbo petrol and output options up to 175 PS/ 370 Nm 2-litre diesel.

Skoda Kylaq

The newly introduced model Kylaq marked the entry of Skoda into the highly competitive sub-4m SUV segment. It comes only with a single petrol turbo engine that delivers an output of 115 PS and 178 NM power and torque respectively. Offered drive and transmission layouts consist of a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic. Major highlights of exterior interiors are a 10-inch infotainment system, power control-command front-row seats with ventilation, single-pane sunroof and Qi wireless phone charging.

Price: Rs 7.89 lakh to Rs 14.40 lakh (ex-showroom)

Mahindra XEV 9e And BE 6

Mahindra unveiled to the market two unique innovations that are the XEV 9e and the BE 6. In addition, both models are based on the ‘INGLO’ that is solely dedicated to electric SUVs of the carmaker. Both the XEV 9e and BE 6 are available with two battery options: a 59 kWh and a 79 kWh, with the former one said to offer a range of up to 682 km. Such options as wireless phone charging, the power front seat with ventilation, 16 speakers by Harman Kardon, and ADAS come with the cars. The company has not made known the prices of these models, however, sources indicate that Mahindra will unveil the prices at the Bharat Mobility Expo.

XEV 9e Starting Price: Rs 21.90 lakh (ex-showroom)

BE 6 Starting Price: Rs 18.90 lakh (ex-showroom)

Mahindra XUV 3XO

This comes after Mahindra recently introduced the facelifted XUV300 as the XUV 3XO with a fresh look and a vastly overhauled interior with new features added. It is now also offered with a bigger 10.25-inch touch screen, 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, roof panoramic sunroof and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems. Powertrain options in the new XUV 3XO remain the same turbo-petrol and diesel engines that were offered in the earlier XUV 300. A lot of transmission options are available such as 6-speed manual transmission, 6-speed torque-converter automatic transmission and 6-speed AMT.

Tata Nexon CNG

The Nexon CNG was another Tata Motors’ innovative milestone making the carmaker the first to offer a factory-fitted CNG kit with a turbo-petrol model. The bi-fuel model possesses the same dual-cylinder technology as the standard motor. It provides a larger boot than the standard CNG autos with conventional construction. This gives the Nexon CNG a 120 PS 1.2-litre turbo petrol motor. It churns out 100 PS 170 Nm in CNG trim. ALSO INCLUDES; a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front row seats, and auto climate control.

Tata Curvv EV And Curvv

Early August also presented what Tata envisioned as its most iconic car for 2024, the Curvv EV. That particular model created much interest particularly due to its exterior and interior features such as the sunroof alongside the heated front seats. The Curvv EV comes with two powertrains: a 45 kWh battery pack with a range of 502 km. Those include a 55 kWh battery pack that comes with a 585 km range limit.el of 2024, the Curvv EV. Some of them include the power remotely operated tailgate, the roof, the revolving round-shaped camera and the driving assistive technology.

Citroen Basalt

Citroen revealed the Basalt with a sports utility vehicle-coupe concept and premium appeal inside out. Some of them include; arm support adjustable for under the thigh, 10.2 inches of touchscreen infotainment, automatic climate control among others; and wireless phone charging. The Basalt is offered with two petrol engine options: a naturally aspirated 1.2-litre mill that will deliver 82 PS and 115 Nm, as well as a 1-litre turbocharged mill that will deliver 110 PS and up to 205 Nm.

Tata Punch EV

The Tata Punch was unveiled with an all-electric powertrain, while the Ice, version has design and features changes compared to the petrol iteration. It comes with two battery options, a 25 kWh and a 35 kWh to cover 315 km and 421 km respectively according to the company. The new Punch EV has a 10.25-inch infotainment system, six airbags, ventilated front seats, and a 360-degree camera as standard features.

Nissan Magnite 2024

Nissan introduced the 2024 Magnite with minor esthetic upgrades of the outside, a new interior design, and new equipment. Today it has a larger grille and new wheel trims, and inside comes with a new black and orange interior. New options include the 8-inch infotainment system, auto climate control, 6 airbags and a 360-degree camera system.

Price: Rs 5.99 lakh to Rs 11.50 lakh (ex-showroom)

Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor

Toyota recently introduced the domestically produced Fronx rebadge of the global Urban Cruiser Taisor in early April. It also gets a fresh grille and new metallic wheels but the interior of the venture with Maruti is identical. The next-generation Urban Cruiser comes with two powertrain options. It includes a 90 PS 1.2-litre N/A petrol and a 100 PS 1-litre turbo-petrol. Available as a factory-fitted CNG kit on the model range is the 1.2-litre ‘N/A’ petrol engine.

2024 Hyundai Alcazar

There were design modifications of a new cabin incorporated new features in this Alcazar update. Inside, the new 2024 Alcazar comes with new equipment such as electric boss mode. It also has a wireless mobile charge for the first and second rows while on safety it features new ADAS. There are six and seven-passenger versions and the standard engine type is a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol or a diesel engine.
