Pru Life UK and Humble Sustainability’s Circular Economy Approach to Electronic Waste

To address climate change and bridge the digital divide, Pru Life UK has partnered with leading climate health technology start-up Humble Sustainability. This collaboration aims to redefine the future of electronic waste through the principles of a circular economy, showcasing how sustainability can create lasting social impact while protecting the planet.

Circular Economy Approach to Electronic Waste

As part of this pioneering partnership, Pru Life UK’s unused company IT assets will be brought back into circularity through Humble’s reselling program, which leverages an extensive network of buyers.

In the first month alone, Pru Life UK generated over Php 240K from its revenue share and anticipates additional batches of IT assets in the coming months, along with devices and equipment donated by its employees. All proceeds from the sale will be used to purchase electronic devices for donation to community madrasahs (Islamic schools) in Mindanao as part of Pru Life UK’s Adopt-a-Madrasah programme.

Supporting Education and Connectivity in Mindanao

Pru Life UK initially piloted the Adopt-a-Madrasah programme in Davao City, focusing on developing priority interventions for teachers and students in the community.

This community investment initiative aligns with the company’s larger goal of supporting the Takaful operations launched in November of last year. The partnership with Humble Sustainability not only minimizes electronic waste but also empowers underserved communities with access to technology, enhancing opportunities for education and connectivity.
