Jessica Simpson and Eric Johnson Split After 10 Years of Marriage
A Painful Situation for the Couple
Jessica Simpson and her husband, Eric Johnson, have announced their separation after a decade of marriage. The singer and actress, 44, and her former NFL player husband, 45, revealed that they have been living separately and are navigating a painful situation in their marriage.
Simpson shared in a statement to PEOPLE, “Our children come first, and we are focusing on what is best for them. We are grateful for all of the love and support that has been coming our way, and appreciate privacy right now as we work through this as a family”.
A Decade of Marriage and Three Children
The couple, who married in July 2014, share three children: daughters Maxwell “Maxi” Drew, 12, and Birdie Mae, 5, and son Ace Knute, 11. They first met through a mutual friend in 2010 and got engaged just six months later.
Their wedding in Montecito, California, was a star-studded affair with over 250 guests, and their two older children played special roles as the ring bearer and flower girl.
Signs of Trouble
Speculation about their split began when Johnson was spotted without his wedding ring in November 2024.
Around the same time, Simpson posted a cryptic message on Instagram, hinting at a return to music and reflecting on her personal journey. “This comeback is personal. It’s an apology to myself for putting up with everything I did not deserve,” she wrote.
Commitment to Co-Parenting
Despite their separation, Simpson and Johnson are committed to co-parenting their children and prioritizing their well-being.
Simpson emphasized the importance of communication and growth in their relationship, stating, “I feel like every moment with us, we’re growing as long as we’re communicating, and our love is only deepening”.
