Miles Teller Reveals ‘One Month Per Ab’ for Top Gun 3 on ‘The Late Show’ with Stephen Colbert

Miles Teller shared how much effort it takes to achieve his Top Gun abs. He appeared on “The Late Show” with Stephen Colbert on Feb. 4. The Top Gun: Maverick star, 37, discussed a possible third film and the intense training he would need. Colbert, 60, asked if Top Gun 3 was happening.

Teller joked that he had no control over it. He told Tom Cruise he needed time to get in shape. “One month per ab,” he said. Colbert pressed him again about the sequel. Teller admitted there was strong enthusiasm from fans and creators but gave no confirmation.

Miles Teller and his Top Gun: Maverick co-stars went viral after the film’s 2022 release. Fans loved their shirtless beach football scene. The cast, including Glen Powell and Greg Tarzan Davis, played during a break. The scene became so popular that Paramount+ released a three-hour loop in December 2022.

A playful video description joked about it being a holiday alternative to a crackling fire. In the movie, Tom Cruise’s character, Pete “Maverick” Mitchell, used the game to bond his trainees. His recruits included Teller, Powell, Jay Ellis, Monica Barbaro, and Lewis Pullman.
Directed by Joseph Kosinski, Top Gun: Maverick follows Cruise’s character 30 years after his TOPGUN graduation. He returns as an instructor for elite pilots.

Rumors about Top Gun 3 started after Maverick’s release. In March 2024, producer Jerry Bruckheimer confirmed they were working on it. He revealed they pitched a story to Tom Cruise. However, Cruise has a busy schedule, so they must wait.

In July 2024, Glen Powell hinted at a production start date. During the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Josh Horowitz asked him for details. Powell admitted he had a date but refused to share it. He jokingly told Horowitz to move on to the next question. Fans are excited, but the official confirmation is still pending.
