The founder of Aytexcel Pvt. Ltd. expects that India’s home projector market will maintain steady growth in the coming years

According to the Cognitive Market Research’s ‘Smart Projector Market Report 2025,’ the Asia-Pacific region accounted for approximately 23 percent of global revenue, with a market size of US$ 519.39 million in 2024. The market is projected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 20 percent from 2024 to 2031. Meanwhile, the Indian smart projector market is witnessing significant growth, with various forecasts predicting a CAGR of 12 percent until 2028. In India, nearly 70 percent of buyers are from the corporate and education sectors, while 30 percent belong to the home entertainment segment.

Now, with more households opting for home projectors over television sets, the share of home entertainment users is expected to rise further in the coming years. Moreover, users are shifting away from traditional lamp-based projectors, favoring laser and LED models. Among them, laser projectors are particularly preferred for their superior visual quality, long lifespan, low maintenance costs, and energy efficiency.

“The Indian home entertainment segment is changing rapidly, with a clear shift in consumer preferences. Smart projectors are at the centre of this transformation. Modern consumers expect more than just high-quality visuals. They value connectivity, convenience, and a richer viewing experience. With smart projectors, we are making premium entertainment more accessible and effortless for every household,” says Sushil Motwani, Founder of Aytexcel Pvt. Ltd., the official India Representative of Formovie.

He says that smart projectors are reshaping the way India engages with entertainment. “These devices combine technology, functionality, and ease of use. With Gen Z embracing smarter, more connected lifestyles, smart projectors are becoming a household essential, redefining how we experience content. From binge-watching favourite shows to enjoying family movie nights, these projectors open the door to a new era of interactive entertainment,” adds Motwani.

Another factor contributing to the growing popularity of laser projectors is the rise of OTT platforms, which has fuelled the demand for a theatre-like experience at home, Various streaming services now offer a wide range of content in true 4K resolution, making high-quality visuals more accessible. Most premium smart projectors now support 4K UHD resolution (3840 × 2160 pixels), delivering sharper images, vibrant colours, and a more lifelike viewing experience.

Meanwhile, features like Advanced Laser Phosphor Display® (ALPD) enhance image quality, ensuring rich and detailed visuals. Superior sound quality is another key aspect, with many of these devices equipped with built-in speakers that support Dolby/DTS audio, reducing the need for external sound bars or speakers.

The integration of Android TV, enabling app installations for streaming, built-in apps like Netflix, wireless connectivity supporting Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and Chromecast, and AI-driven features such as automatic colour adjustment based on ambient light and voice controls through Alexa and Google Assistant are also additional features that attract customers to smart projectors.
