to ensure communal harmony, Sambhal administration has decided to cover 60 mosques along the route of the Holi procession with tarpaulins. This precautionary measure comes as the festival of colors coincides with Friday prayers on March 14. The decision was reached after a meeting with religious leaders from both Hindu and Muslim communities.

Consensus Reached on Covering Mosques

During the meeting, a consensus was reached to cover the mosques on Chaupai Marg with tarpaulins to prevent any disturbance during the celebrations. Shrish Chandra, the Sambhal SP, emphasized the importance of maintaining peace and harmony. “We have taken this step to ensure that both communities can celebrate their respective festivals without any issues,” said Chandra.

Security Arrangements for Holi

The Sambhal administration is making extensive security arrangements to ensure the peaceful conduct of the Holi procession. The city has been divided into six zones and 29 sectors for better coordination. Rajender Pensiya, the District Magistrate, stated, “We have deployed police officers, magistrates, and PAC personnel to oversee the security operations. Drone cameras will also be used for aerial surveillance”.

Timing Adjustments for Holi and Namaz

To avoid any overlap between the Holi celebrations and Friday prayers, it has been decided that Hindus will celebrate Holi till 2:30 pm on March 14, and Muslims will offer namaz after 2:30 pm. Anuj Kumar Chaudhary, a senior police official, mentioned, “This arrangement has been made to ensure that both communities can observe their traditions without any conflict”.

Community Participation and Cooperation

The meeting saw active participation from both Hindu and Muslim communities, highlighting the spirit of cooperation and mutual respect. Shrish Chandra added, “We have held peace committee meetings in every locality and village to discuss and deliberate on ways to prevent any incidents of communal strife”.
