
Ali Hazelwood, best known for her sensational books “The Love Hypothesis” and “Bride,” has announced the cancellation of her UK tours amid border concerns. Refunds will be made for the tour events.
The #1 New York Times bestselling author informed about the “disappointing” decision on Instagram. “it’s not possible for me to safely travel outside and then back inside the US.” She wrote.
Hazelwood, who is well known for writing contemporary romance novels, particularly in the STEM setting, is originally from Italy. However, there is an uncertainty whether Ali is a U.S. citizen or a Green card holder.
Ali Hazelwood’s representatives told USA TODAY that they cannot make a statement on the situation. Ali was supposed to appear at many tour events. One that included Alex Aster, author of the book “Summer in the City”.
She expressed her decision, “Believe me, this is not a decision I made lightly. I know a lot of you have already made traveling plans, and I know how inconvenient it is to cancel so close to the tour.” She hopes to travel soon if things are under control. She also expressed her gratitude to everyone who is supporting and understanding her.

The internationally bestselling author announced her decision after Trump’s decision regarding bans and restrictions for tourists, noncitizens, visa, and green card holders was implemented. Since the action, Mass detention and deportation have been observed, including U.S citizens.
In one recent case, many U.S citizens were detained or deported at the airport, which also resulted in mobile phone searches. One more incident that came into the limelight was the administrative error which resulted in the deportation of El Salvador, who later won a court order. Many protests and legal actions have been taken by students and activists against Trump after he decided to invalidate the visas of noncitizen students.
Ali’s notable works in the publishing industry have gained her massive popularity and followers. The STEM setting she incorporates in her novels is considered exceptional by readers.
Hazelwood’s novel Check & Mate received the award for Best Young Adult Fiction in 2023 by Goodreads Choice awards and BookTok’s sensational novel “The Love Hypothesis” received the Bronze LovelyBooks community Award in the romance category in 2022.
She is expected to release several books, including “Problematic Summer Romance on May 27, 2025, and “Mate” on October 7, 2025.
