
A 28-year-old Air India pilot suffered cardiac arrest, shortly after landing. The newlywed pilot successfully operated the Srinagar-Delhi flight on April 9. The pilot was rushed to the hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.

Armaan, a 28 year old pilot started feeling uneasy and vomited in the plane, shortly after landing in Delhi. Armaan, an Air India pilot suffered intense cardiac arrest, Immediate medical help was called and he was rushed to the hospital, where he was declared dead. Air India offered condolences to the pilot’s family and expressed their grief over the loss of their colleague.
What might cause this?
In recent years, multiple cases like this are reported. In November 2023, a 37 year old Air India pilot died of cardiac arrest at Delhi airport. Similarly, an Indigo pilot lost his life before takeoff in the same year. It could primarily affect the physical and mental health as pilots have long working hours, which can disturb sleep patterns and cause fatigue.
The Delhi High Court asked the DGCA to implement rules, that help pilots release stress. In response to this, the DGCA proposed a phased roadmap that limits the flying time of pilots. in order to reduce fatigue amongst the crew members and pilots. It suggested increasing the weekly rest time for pilots, from 36 hours to 48 hours from July 1.
