Gadag Railway Station Among the Redeveloped Hubs
Among the newly inaugurated stations, Gadag Railway Station, located in the Southwest Railway Zone, has undergone a significant transformation. The station now boasts a G+1 model building, constructed with a ₹23.24 crore grant. Key upgrades include:
- Escalators installed at Platform No. 2.
- A 12-meter-wide walkway bridge.
- Lifts fitted on all platforms.
- Bus bay, auto bay, and parking area for seamless transportation.
- Modern signage and instruction boards for improved navigation.
A Vision for Nationwide Railway Transformation
The Amrit Bharat Railway Station Project is a long-term initiative designed to modernize railway stations across India. The first phase saw the renovation of 500 stations, with 103 completed and inaugurated today.
The project aims to improve accessibility, sustainability, and passenger convenience, ensuring that railway stations serve as cultural and economic hubs.
During the inauguration, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw emphasized the importance of integrating local heritage into station designs. He stated, “The Amrit Bharat Stations are a reflection of India’s rich heritage and our commitment to world-class infrastructure”.
Gadag: A Cultural and Tourism Hub
Gadag, known as the hometown of Kumara Vyasa, is a place of historical significance. It has been home to music legends like Bhimasena Joshi and Pandit Puttaraja Gavayi. With UNESCO World Heritage Site Pattadakal and architectural marvels in Lakkundi and Badami, Gadag is emerging as a cultural and tourism hotspot.
The inauguration event witnessed the presence of MLA CC Patil, Dr. Chandru Lamani, BJP District President Raju Kuradagi, and several dignitaries from Gadag city. Their participation highlighted the regional importance of this redevelopment effort.
