The anticipation for Lokesh Kanagaraj’s ensemble film Coolie just hit a fever pitch as veteran actor Nagarjuna dropped unexpected spoilers about the film’s high-profile cast, especially his own role and that of Aamir Khan.
Speaking to Mid-Day, Nagarjuna confirmed that while both he and Aamir play major parts in the film, they do not share any scenes together—a storytelling decision that adds to the film’s layered narrative.
Produced by Sun Pictures, the film is slated for release on August 14, 2025, targeting the lucrative Independence Day weekend.
The cast boasts powerhouse names including Nagarjuna, Aamir Khan, Shruti Haasan, Sathyaraj, Upendra, and Reba Monica John, among others, making it one of the most anticipated pan-Indian releases of the year.
Aamir Khan’s Character: Dahaa Redefines His Persona
Fresh off the release of his first-look poster, Aamir Khan is confirmed to play Dahaa, a mysterious pipe-smoking rebel dressed in rugged attire.
According to Nagarjuna, Aamir’s performance is “brilliant” and represents a side of the actor fans haven’t seen before. “You’ll see a new Aamir and be shocked,” Nagarjuna revealed, hinting at complex character development and thematic depth, reports The Hindustan Times.
Dahaa’s arc appears to be set in a separate “chapter” of the film, creating a parallel plotline that may eventually converge with Rajinikanth’s journey, though that remains unconfirmed.

Nagarjuna As Simon: A Villain Worth Watching
In a dramatic twist, Nagarjuna also confirmed he plays the main antagonist, named Simon, who will go head-to-head with Rajinikanth’s lead character.
“It’s him against me!” Nagarjuna said, describing the role as a bold departure from his usual screen persona. With intense confrontations expected, the actor called the filming experience “fun and different,” especially given his dynamic scenes with the Thalaiva himself.
