McDonald’s Adds Spicy McMuffins and Brings Back Wraps After 9-Year Hiatus

McDonald’s Snack Wraps Return After Nearly a Decade

McDonald’s is turning up the flavor dial this week with two major menu updates aimed at satisfying both spice lovers and nostalgic fans.

Starting Tuesday, July 8, the fast-food giant has launched a new line of Spicy McMuffin breakfast sandwiches, while the long-awaited Snack Wraps will officially return to stores nationwide on Thursday, July 10.

The new breakfast lineup includes the Spicy Egg McMuffin, Spicy Sausage McMuffin, and Spicy Sausage McMuffin with Egg.

Each sandwich features McDonald’s signature Spicy Pepper Sauce, a bold blend of habanero and mayo that’s already popular in the Spicy McCrispy.

According to a Harris Poll, 74% of Americans regularly consume hot sauce, and 78% of Gen Z shoppers prefer products marketed as spicy—a trend McDonald’s is clearly tapping into.

The spicy additions also mark the 50th anniversary of the Egg McMuffin, first introduced in 1972 by franchisee Herb Peterson. The sandwich helped McDonald’s break into the breakfast market and remains a cornerstone of its morning menu.

Meanwhile, the return of the Snack Wrap ends a nearly nine-year hiatus. Originally launched in 2006 and discontinued in 2016 due to prep constraints, the wrap has maintained a cult following, with fans launching petitions and social media campaigns demanding its comeback.

Snack Wraps will be available in Ranch and Spicy Pepper Sauce varieties, featuring McCrispy chicken strips, shredded lettuce, and a blend of cheddar and Monterey Jack cheese wrapped in a soft flour tortilla. McDonald’s USA President Joe Erlinger confirmed the item is back for good, calling it a “new core product”.

With over 13,600 locations across the U.S., McDonald’s is betting big on bold flavors and fan favorites to boost summer sales and reconnect with younger customers. Whether you’re craving heat or nostalgia, this week’s menu changes offer a little something for everyone.
