A disturbing incident at the Indian Institute of Management-Calcutta (IIM-C) has sparked renewed concerns over campus safety after a female student alleged she was drugged and raped inside the boys’ hostel by a fellow student on July 11, 2025.
According to the FIR filed at Haridevpur Police Station, the woman was invited to the hostel on Friday evening for what was described as a “counselling session.”
She reportedly consumed a drink offered by the accused, after which she lost consciousness. Upon regaining awareness, she realized she had been sexually assaulted. The accused allegedly threatened her with severe consequences if she spoke out.
Police detained the suspect late Friday night and confirmed his formal arrest on Saturday. Investigators are now reviewing CCTV footage and questioning students to reconstruct the sequence of events. The identity of the accused has not been publicly disclosed, reported NDTV.
