VIDEO: Yavat Boils Over Social Media Post; Pawar Speaks on Camera

August 1, 2025 — Pune: Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar rushed to the Yavat village in Pune on Friday after local tensions erupted over an allegedly objectionable social media post.

The post, reportedly made by a youth from the village, triggered sharp reactions from residents and nearby communities, sparking police action and high-level political intervention.

A video shared by ANI shows Pawar arriving at the scene and interacting with those affected. “We are here to listen and resolve matters peacefully,” he said during a brief interaction captured on camera.

The Pune Rural Police have registered an FIR and detained the individual accused of posting the controversial content. Officials are monitoring social media activity and deploying extra forces to prevent escalation.

Locals expressed frustration over growing misuse of online platforms, with one community leader stating, “Social media must be used to unite, not to divide.”

The post’s contents have not been officially disclosed, but local reports say it was interpreted as deeply offensive, stirring religious and cultural sensitivities.

Ajit Pawar’s visit included closed-door meetings with village elders, local law enforcement, and families directly impacted. He emphasized maintaining law and order while promising a full investigation.

Security has been tightened, and internet access remains temporarily restricted in pockets of the area to curb misinformation. Civic leaders are urging calm and responsible dialogue.
