Dubai Police Recover $25 Million Pink Diamond Hours After Heist

$25 Million Pink Diamond

DUBAI August 18, 2025— What began as a high‑stakes deception in a luxury villa ended in handcuffs less than eight hours later, after Dubai police tracked down three men accused of stealing an “exceptionally rare” pink diamond.

According to the Dubai Police General Command, the suspects — all from the same Asian country — allegedly lured a European diamond trader to a villa under the pretense of showing the gem to a wealthy buyer.

“I just had a problem,” the trader can be heard telling an emergency dispatcher in audio released by the Dubai Media Office. “I came to meet a client to sell a diamond to them. They looked at the stone and now… it’s stolen.”

Investigators say swift coordination between specialized field units and the use of advanced artificial intelligence tools led to the arrests.

CCTV footage released by authorities showed the suspects moments before the alleged theft, as well as their detention later the same day.

The pink diamond — valued at $25 million — was recovered intact, underscoring the city’s reputation for rapid law enforcement response in its tightly regulated gemstone trade.

Authorities noted the heist came just days after a $2 million daylight jewelry store robbery in Seattle, though the two cases are unrelated.

Dubai, a global diamond trading hub, has long prided itself on security. This case, officials said, “demonstrates both the vigilance of our teams and the risks criminals take when they underestimate our capability.”
