Arlington, Virginia – August 20, 2025 – In a heartbreaking incident that has shocked the television industry and her community, Travis Renee Baldwin, a 57-year-old esteemed hair and makeup professional known for her work at Newsmax, ABC, and ESPN, was fatally shot in her apartment over the weekend.
Authorities have charged her 27-year-old son, Logan Chrisinger, with first-degree murder in connection to the crime, highlighting a devastating family tragedy with no clear motive yet disclosed.
The shooting occurred just before 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, August 17, 2025, inside Baldwin’s residence in Arlington, Virginia, a suburb in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area.
According to reports from the Arlington County Police Department, Baldwin was rushed to a nearby hospital following the gunshot wounds but succumbed to her injuries shortly after.
Chrisinger remained at the scene after the incident and was promptly taken into custody without resistance.
He faces additional charges of aggravated malicious wounding and using a firearm in the commission of a felony, and is currently being held without bond at the Arlington County Detention Facility.
While the exact circumstances leading to the shooting remain under investigation, no motive has been publicly revealed by law enforcement.
The event unfolded rapidly in the early morning hours, with police responding to reports of gunfire at the apartment complex.
Baldwin, who had built a respected career in television cosmetics, had just worked her regular shift on Friday, August 15, styling anchors at Newsmax, unaware it would be her last.
Baldwin was remembered fondly by colleagues as a dedicated professional and compassionate individual.
Newsmax host Greta Van Susteren expressed her grief on social media, stating, “What a sadness… my Newsmax make up artist of 3 ½ years, and years at @ABC @ESPN etc and a friend to all her colleagues… was murdered over the weekend. [S]he did my make up Friday for the show and of course I never dreamed that would be the last time I would see her.”
Marisela Ramirez, a Newsmax White House producer, echoed these sentiments, describing Baldwin as having “a giving heart and a gypsy spirit but really she was a quiet warrior, supporting her family and carrying the weight of a household on her shoulders — without complaints.”
Ramirez added that Baldwin treated people “with the gentleness of a mother,” underscoring her nurturing personality.
Baldwin’s career spanned several major networks, where she provided hair and makeup services to on-air talent, earning a reputation for her skill and kindness.
Little is known publicly about Chrisinger beyond his relation to the victim, and Newsmax has not yet issued an official statement on the matter.
This incident adds to the growing concerns over gun violence in domestic settings, prompting calls for increased mental health support and family intervention programs.
The Arlington County Police Department continues to investigate, and anyone with information is urged to come forward.
