Nigerian music icon Tiwa Savage has once again addressed the lingering controversy surrounding her leaked sex tape, firmly rejecting claims that she released it intentionally to gain attention.
In a candid interview with Hot 97, the award-winning singer opened up about the emotional toll of the 2021 scandal, which erupted after a private video of her and her partner surfaced online.
Savage revealed that the footage had originally been used in a blackmail attempt, but she refused to comply with the demands—leading to its public release.
“I was bashed for my sex video. A lot of people think I was just trying to get sympathy. Even people with platforms were quite horrible and blamed me,” she said during the interview.
Savage emphasized that the idea she leaked the video herself was not only false but deeply hurtful.
“They said I did it to be relevant. If I were doing that, I would’ve been intentional about it. I would have used better lighting, lingerie, and my facial expressions would have been on point,” she added, highlighting the absurdity of the accusations.
