In a shocking broad-daylight robbery, two bike-borne assailants allegedly held a man at gunpoint and escaped with jewellery worth nearly ₹1 crore near Bharat Mandapam, one of the capital’s high-security zones.

The victim, Shivam Kumar Yadav (28), and his associate Raghav (55) were transporting a consignment of gold and silver from Chandni Chowk to Bhogal on a scooter when they were intercepted near Bhairon Mandir Marg.

The robbers, riding an Apache motorcycle, snatched two bags—one containing 500 grams of gold and the other 35 kilograms of silver—before fleeing the scene.

Police Launch Manhunt, CCTV Footage Under Review

Officers from Tilak Marg Police Station arrived promptly and began scanning CCTV footage from surrounding areas to trace the suspects’ route. The victims were unable to record the full registration number of the getaway bike, complicating the investigation.

Authorities have summoned the jewellery store owner to verify the exact value of the stolen items. Raids are underway across the city to locate and apprehend the culprits.

Security Concerns in High-Traffic Zone

The robbery has raised serious questions about security preparedness in areas like Bharat Mandapam, which regularly host high-profile events and see heavy public movement. Police have urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity.

The investigation is ongoing, and officials are hopeful that surveillance footage and eyewitness accounts will lead to a breakthrough soon.
