OTSEGO COUNTY, Mich. — A 45‑year‑old Otsego County resident is celebrating a life‑changing win after securing a $564,219 Club Keno jackpot, despite initially believing he had missed his chance.
The lucky player, who has chosen to remain anonymous, purchased his winning ticket at the Gaylord South EZ Mart in Gaylord. His numbers — 11, 23, 25, 26, 29, 46, 55, 59, and 75 — matched The Jack, an add‑on game that starts at $10,000 and grows until someone claims the prize.
A Routine Play Turns Into a Jackpot
The winner explained that he only plays The Jack when the prize climbs above $100,000. This time, he bought a ticket good for 30 draws.
“When I got home, I thought if the draws were still going, I’d head out for a drink and watch the rest,” he recalled.
Later, when checking the Michigan Lottery app, he noticed that The Jack had been won and assumed someone else had claimed the prize. But when he scanned his ticket, he was stunned to discover he was the jackpot winner.
An Emotional Surprise
“It was an emotional rollercoaster,” he said. “I was bummed at first, then completely shocked when I realized I was the big winner. All I could think was, ‘What am I going to do with all this money?’ It was a good feeling.”
The player recently visited Michigan Lottery headquarters to collect his winnings. Rather than splurging, he plans to invest the money for long‑term security.
