Watanare Returns With Sequel Series and Theatrical Movie in November 2025
Fans of the hit girls’ love anime Watanare: There’s No Freaking Way I’ll be Your Lover! Unless… have reason to celebrate — a 5-episode sequel has officially been announced, along with a special theatrical edition titled Watanare ~Next Shine~, set to premiere in Japanese cinemas on November 21, 2025.
The announcement came with a brand-new key visual, teasing emotional tension and romantic chaos between Renako Amaori and her unexpected admirers.
The sequel continues the story of Renako, a socially awkward teen who reinvents herself to fit in with the popular crowd — only to be blindsided by a romantic confession from the school’s most adored girl, Ajisai Sena.
Girls’ Love, Identity, and Chaos: What’s Next for Renako?
Written by Mikami Teren and illustrated by Eku Takeshima, Watanare blends humor, heartache, and high school drama in a way that’s resonated deeply with fans of the yuri genre.
The sequel promises to dive deeper into Renako’s internal conflict as she’s caught between two romantic interests — the princely Mai Oduka and the angelic Ajisai Sena.
