The event, judged by industry experts and organized by Sonal Holland—India’s only Master of Wine—featured over 400 competing brands across categories.

Paul John Whisky Wins Best Indian Single Malt

Paul John Pedro Ximénez, part of the brand’s Select Cask range, was named Best Indian Single Malt Whisky and also took home the coveted Best in Show title. Matured in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks, this expression impressed judges with its rich flavor and smooth finish.

Additionally, Paul John Oloroso received a Gold Medal in the same category, showcasing the brand’s consistent excellence.

“We’re proud to represent India on the global spirits stage,” said a spokesperson from John Distilleries, the Goa-based company behind Paul John. “These awards validate our commitment to quality and innovation.”

Malhar Gin Named Best Indian Contemporary Gin

Malhar Citrus Indian Craft Gin also stole the spotlight, winning Best Indian Contemporary Gin and Best in Show.

Crafted with citrus peels, juniper, and botanicals, Malhar Gin is celebrated for its refreshing profile and artisanal blend. The brand’s rise reflects India’s growing footprint in the premium gin market.

Global Recognition and Industry Impact

Paul John Whisky is now available in 49 countries and has earned over 350 international awards since its launch in 2012. The brand uses six-row barley sourced from Rajasthan, Haryana, and the Himalayan foothills, and distills its single malts in Goa using ex-bourbon casks with no additives.

Meanwhile, Malhar Gin’s success signals a shift in India’s craft beverage scene, where local ingredients and bold flavors are gaining global attention. The awards not only celebrate excellence but also spotlight India’s evolving taste for premium spirits.

With these wins, John Distilleries continues to raise the bar for Indian alcobev brands, proving that world-class quality can come from homegrown labels.
