Bengaluru, November 13, 2025 – Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has announced the release of his new book Neerina Hejje, a work dedicated to Karnataka’s water journey.
The book will be launched by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on November 14 at 4 PM in the Banquet Hall of Vidhana Soudha.
A Tribute to Karnataka’s Water Legacy
Shivakumar described Neerina Hejje as a personal effort to document the state’s long and complex relationship with water. “This work is my effort to capture Karnataka’s water journey – its history, its struggles, and the opportunities that shape our future,” he wrote on X.
The book explores the challenges of water management in Karnataka, including river disputes, irrigation projects, and the socio-economic impact of water scarcity. It also highlights opportunities for sustainable development and policy reforms.
Significance of the Occasion
The release coincides with the birth anniversary of Jawaharlal Nehru, India’s first Prime Minister, adding symbolic weight to the event. Shivakumar noted: “The moment is even more special as it comes on the birth anniversary of Shri Jawaharlal Nehru.”
Political observers see the timing as a reflection of Shivakumar’s emphasis on nation-building themes and his attempt to link Karnataka’s water policies with broader developmental visions.

CM Siddaramaiah’s Role
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, who will officially release the book, has long been associated with welfare-driven governance. His presence at the launch underscores the importance of water as a political and developmental priority for Karnataka.
Broader Context
Water has been a recurring theme in Karnataka’s politics, from the Cauvery river dispute to the state’s ambitious irrigation projects.
Shivakumar, who has previously served as Water Resources Minister, has often positioned himself as a key voice on these issues.
Neerina Hejje is expected to blend personal reflections with policy insights, making it both a political statement and a developmental roadmap.
