The International Cricket Council (ICC) and JioStar have strongly denied speculation about a possible split, confirming that their four-year, $3 billion media rights agreement remains intact and will continue through 2027.
ICC and JioStar Stand Firm
In an official statement, the ICC said, “JioStar is fully committed to honour its contractual obligations in letter and spirit. Both organisations remain focused on delivering uninterrupted, world-class coverage of upcoming ICC events to fans across India, including the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.”
The clarification came just days after reports suggested JioStar was considering withdrawing from the deal.
Reports of Separation Dismissed
On December 9, Cricbuzz reported that a separation between the two parties would be untenable.
The ICC and JioStar responded firmly, stating, “These reports do not reflect the position of either organisation. The existing agreement remains fully in force, and JioStar continues as the ICC’s official media rights partner in India. Any suggestion that JioStar has withdrawn from the agreement is incorrect.”
No Impact on Fans or Advertisers
The statement further assured that preparations for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup are progressing as planned.
“There is no impact on viewers, advertisers, or industry partners,” the release noted. Both organisations emphasized that they maintain regular communication on operational, commercial, and strategic matters to grow the sport.
Looking Ahead
The $3 billion deal, signed in 2023, is one of the largest media rights agreements in cricket history. With the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup scheduled for 2026, fans can expect uninterrupted coverage across India.
