Hubballi MLA Mahesh Tenginkai recently led a strategic gathering to discuss the future of rural livelihoods and infrastructure in Northern Karnataka. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) organized a workshop for the Dharwad Rural district titled “Viksit Bharat Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin).”
This event, held on January 13, 2026, focused on the transition to a new national framework for rural employment, which replaces the previous MGNREGA system with an enhanced statutory guarantee of 125 days of work per household.
Boosting Rural Livelihoods Through Federal Missions
The workshop highlighted the integration of employment creation with long-term infrastructure development. Union Minister Shobha Karandlaje attended the session, providing national context for the mission’s goals.
The central government has proposed an allocation of over 1.5 Lakh Crore (₹1,51,282 crore) for this initiative, which aims to build durable assets like water security systems and climate-resilient roads. Tenginkai addressed the party workers, urging them to ensure that the benefits of this 1.5 Lakh Crore mission reach every eligible rural household in the district.
Mahesh Tenginkai expressed his enthusiasm for the mission’s potential during his speech. “I addressed the workshop on the Viksit Bharat Guarantee for Employment and Livelihood Mission (Gramin) in Dharwad Rural today,” Tenginkai noted.
“With the presence of Union Minister Shobha Karandlaje and our local leaders, we are committed to strengthening the rural economy through this robust national vision.”
District Leadership Units for Economic Growth
Several prominent political figures joined the Hubballi MLA to chart the course for the district’s development. District President Ningappa Sutagatti, MLA M.R. Patil, and former Minister Shankar Patil Munenakoppa participated in the discussions.
Their collective presence emphasized a unified push to implement the mission’s four priority verticals: water security, core rural infrastructure, livelihood-related assets, and extreme weather mitigation works.
Successful implementation of these projects depends on strong local coordination and data-driven planning. According to The Press Information Bureau (PIB), the new Act enhances income security by providing 125 guaranteed days of employment, compared to the earlier 100-day limit.
While the state government has raised concerns regarding fiscal sharing, the BJP leadership in Dharwad remains focused on the mission’s capacity to reduce distress-driven migration and stimulate village-level consumption across Karnataka.
