Local authorities and private investors are working together to ensure the city meets its ambitious growth targets by May 2026.

Hubballi Airport Expansion and Terminal Modernization

Air travel in Northern Karnataka will enter a new era with the major expansion of the Hubballi Airport terminal. The central government approved a budget of 273 crore rupees to increase the facility’s capacity, allowing it to handle up to 1,400 passengers at once. Workers are currently constructing three new aerobridges and modernizing the operational area to support increased flight frequencies. This upgrade supports the rising demand from new industries and educational institutions settling in the region.

Smart City Initiatives and Green Mobility Corridors

Urban life is changing rapidly through various Smart City projects that focus on sustainability and efficient transport. The Green Mobility Corridor along Unkal Nalla stands as a primary example of this shift toward eco-friendly infrastructure. Furthermore, the redevelopment of the Old City Bus Stand and the installation of smart parking towers aim to reduce the traffic congestion that often plagues central business districts. These improvements utilize a budget of over 1,400 crore rupees for area-based development.

Industrial Growth and FMCG Cluster Development

The local economy expects a massive boost from the second phase of the Hubballi-Dharwad FMCG cluster. Aequs Infra partnered with the state government to develop this industrial zone, which aims to generate between 50,000 and 100,000 jobs in the coming years. According to Projects Today, the project focuses on making the Mummigatti industrial area a premier destination for consumer goods manufacturing.
