The spirit of devotion has reached a new height in Hubballi as the world-renowned Sri Siddharoodha Swamiji Math unveils a breathtaking “Kailasa Mantapa” decorated entirely with vermicelli.

This artistic tribute marks the beginning of the highly anticipated Mahashivratri 2026 Jatra celebrations, drawing thousands of devotees to the spiritual heart of North Karnataka. The spectacular decorations were completed and opened for public viewing on February 9, 2026.

Artistic Devotion: The Vermicelli Kailasa Mantapa

Crafting a divine atmosphere, local artisans used hundreds of kilograms of “Shyavige” (vermicelli) to transform the Kailasa Mantapa into a white, glistening representation of Lord Shiva’s celestial abode.

This unique tradition showcases the creative devotion of the Hubballi community, where humble materials become high art. Every pillar and arch within the Mantapa reflects the painstaking effort of volunteers who worked for weeks to ensure the structure was ready for the pre-festival rituals.

According to the official Sri Siddharoodha Swamiji Math Trust, the Mahashivratri Utsava Saptaha (seven-day festival) officially commences on February 10, 2026.

The week-long celebration includes continuous spiritual discourses, bhajan sessions, and cultural programs that lead up to the grand night of Mahashivratri. The vermicelli decoration serves as the primary visual attraction for early visitors who wish to offer prayers before the peak crowds arrive.

Jatra Schedule and Mahashivratri 2026 Highlights

The annual Siddharoodha Jatra is one of North Karnataka’s largest religious gatherings, expected to host over 500,000 pilgrims this year. Following the week of spiritual preparation, the main Mahashivratri Jagaran (night vigil) will take place on February 15, 2026.

The festivities reach a climax with the historic Rathotsava (Chariot Festival), where the decorated chariot of Sri Siddharoodha Swami is pulled through the streets of Hubballi by a sea of devotees.

Authorities have released specific guidelines to manage the influx of travelers from neighboring states like Maharashtra and Goa. For those planning to visit, the temple trust has provided a dedicated social media portal for real-time updates on darshan timings and parking facilities.

Volunteers emphasize that the “Kailasa Mantapa” will remain the centerpiece of the inner courtyard throughout the festival, offering a serene backdrop for the night-long meditation and prayers associated with Shiva’s great night.
