V. Somanna Flags Off New Dandeli-Alnavar DEMU Train

In a major boost to regional connectivity and local tourism, the Union Minister of State for Railways and Jal Shakti, Shri V. Somanna, officially inaugurated the new DEMU train service between Dandeli and Alnavar today. The inaugural run, designated as Train No. 07371, was flagged off amidst a celebratory atmosphere at the Dandeli Railway Station, marking a new chapter for the Uttara Kannada transport network.

“This rail link is not just about travel; it is about fueling the economy of Dandeli and easing the lives of thousands of daily commuters,” stated Minister V. Somanna during his address.

Strengthening Local Infrastructure and Tourism

The introduction of this Diesel Electric Multiple Unit (DEMU) service fulfills a long-standing demand of the residents and industrial workers in the region. By providing an affordable and efficient rail alternative to road transport, the new service is expected to reduce travel time and costs significantly for students, traders, and tourists visiting the eco-tourism hub of Dandeli.
