DHARWAD: In a proactive move to safeguard the student community, the Hubballi-Dharwad Police Department organized a comprehensive awareness program focusing on Road Safety, the POCSO Act, and Cyber Safety at the JSS Education Institute in Dharwad today.

The event was graced by Police Commissioner Shri N. Shashi Kumar, IPS, who served as the chief guest. Addressing a large gathering of students and faculty, the Commissioner emphasized that awareness is the first line of defense against modern-day crimes. He highlighted that while technology and transport are essential for progress, they come with significant responsibilities.

Road Safety: With the ongoing National Road Safety initiatives, officers explained the life-saving importance of wearing helmets, following traffic signals, and avoiding distracted driving.

POCSO Act Awareness: Shri N. Shashi Kumar and other senior officers educated students about their rights and the legal protections provided under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The goal was to empower students to speak up against any form of harassment or abuse.

Cyber Security: As digital crimes rise, Shri Srivaraj K., ACP of the Cyber Crime Police Station, provided practical tips on securing social media accounts, identifying phishing scams, and the legal consequences of cyberbullying.

Collaborative Effort

The initiative saw strong participation from Shri Ravish C.R., DCP (Crime & Traffic), and representatives from the Srigandha Foundation, who collaborated with the police to bridge the gap between law enforcement and the youth.

JSS Institute lecturers and hundreds of students engaged in an interactive session, clarifying doubts regarding digital privacy and traffic regulations.
