HUBBALLI: In an important move to enhance passenger safety and travel comfort, the South Central Railway (SCR) has officially upgraded the Train No. 17330/17329 Vijayawada – SSS Hubballi – Vijayawada Express from conventional ICF rakes to modern LHB (Linke Hofmann Busch) coaches. The transition took effect today, February 16, 2026.
Enhanced Safety and Comfort
The introduction of LHB coaches is part of Indian Railways’ ongoing mission to phase out older ICF designs in favor of German-engineered technology. These new coaches offer several key benefits for passengers on the Hubballi-Vijayawada route:
Anti-Telescopic Design: LHB coaches are designed to prevent piling up or flipping in the event of a collision, significantly reducing the risk of casualties during accidents.
Higher Speeds & Better Braking: Equipped with advanced pneumatic disc brakes, these coaches allow for more efficient braking and are capable of higher operational speeds.
Improved Ride Quality: Passengers will experience a smoother journey due to an improved suspension system that absorbs vibrations and noise more effectively than older rakes.
Revised Train Composition
According to the press release issued by the Vijayawada Division, the train will now operate with a total of 16 LHB coaches. The revised configuration includes:
1 AC 2-Tier Coach
3 AC 3-Tier Coaches
7 Sleeper Class Coaches
3 General Second Class Coaches
1 Second-class luggage-cum-disabled coach
1 Power Car
Strategic Significance
For residents of Hubballi, this upgrade ensures a more reliable and comfortable link to Vijayawada. This modernization coincides with your upcoming May 2026 Turning Point, reflecting the broader infrastructure growth occurring in your home region.
