The drama surrounding celebrity chef and actor Madhampatty Rangaraj and costume designer Joy Crizildaa has moved from social media rumors to a high-stakes legal battle. What started as a shocking wedding announcement in July 2025 has escalated into a Madras High Court intervention as of March 2026.
High Court Permits DNA Test
In a major development this month, the Madras High Court has permitted a DNA test on Madhampatty Rangaraj. This order comes after Joy Crizildaa filed a petition to establish the paternity of her son, Ragha Rangaraj, whom she gave birth to on October 31, 2025. According to The Times of India (March 5, 2026), the court passed the order based on mutual consent from both parties to move the mediation forward.
The ₹6.5 Lakh Maintenance Claim
Joy Crizildaa has approached the family court seeking a monthly maintenance of ₹6.50 lakh. She claims this amount is necessary to cover rent, car EMIs for her BMW, and medical expenses for the child. Rangaraj has contested this, alleging that the marriage took place “under duress” and that Joy attempted to extort money by threatening to release private videos—a claim Joy has publicly denied.
Where is the First Wife, Shruthi?
Rangaraj’s first wife, Shruthi, an advocate, has remained a central figure in the chaos. Despite the second marriage photos, Shruthi has consistently denied divorce rumors. She appeared alongside Rangaraj at the Women’s Commission hearings and at public events as recently as late 2025, signaling that they remain legally married.
According to Oneindia (March 7, 2026), the legal questions regarding bigamy and the validity of the second marriage are still being debated in judicial forums.
