Belagavi Entrepreneur Sameer Kanabargi Offers Biomass Energy Solutions Amid LPG Shortage

Belagavi entrepreneur Sameer Kanabargi promoting biomass stoves and heaters as alternatives to LPG

Belagavi, April 4: As commercial LPG shortages continue to affect hotels and small industries across Karnataka, Belagavi-based entrepreneur Sameer Kanabargi is stepping in with an innovative alternative. His firm, Phoenix Industries, has been promoting biomass-based energy systems that are proving both cost-effective and reliable.

Over the past few months, demand for Phoenix Industries’ stoves, heaters, and generators has surged. Nearly 150 hotels and 100 industries have already switched to biomass solutions, using agricultural waste and other combustible materials as fuel. According to Kanabargi, these systems can reduce energy costs by 40–50% compared to LPG, with many businesses recovering their investment within just a few months.

The company is now operating round the clock to meet rising demand, as supply disruptions in LPG continue to challenge the hospitality and manufacturing sectors. “We are seeing strong interest not only from Belagavi but also from Hubballi, Dharwad, and other parts of North Karnataka,” Kanabargi said. “Businesses want stability, and biomass offers that.”

Industry experts note that such innovations could play a key role in reducing dependence on imported fuels while supporting local farmers, who benefit from selling agricultural waste for energy production.

The ambitious CITIIS 2.0 smart city project, once hailed as a national success story, is now on the brink of collapse.

Manjunath R. Banashankari announced a hunger strike starting April 3, citing administrative lapses, procedural violations, and lack of accountability.

The project proposal “VIISWAS” had ranked 2nd among 100 Smart City SPVs nationwide and placed Belagavi among the final 18 selected cities in 2024.

Despite strong beginnings, the project has deteriorated rapidly, raising concerns about governance and transparency.
