On April 4, 2026, leaders of the SSK Samaj met Hubballi-Dharwad Police Commissioner N. Shashikumar to submit a petition demanding strict action in a reported Love Jihad case. The incident, which surfaced on April 3, triggered widespread concern among Hindu SSK community members across the city.
We saw a large delegation arrive at the commissioner’s office. They urged the police commissioner and authorities to intensify the investigation, punish the guilty, and ensure protection for innocent citizens. “Justice must be swift, and SSK society must feel safe,” one delegate told us.
Our sources confirmed that the petition was signed by representatives of the SSK Central Panch Committee and the SSK Samaj Karnataka State unit. Commissioner Shashikumar assured the group, saying, “The culprits will face strict punishment. There is no need for fear.”
Nearly 15 senior members joined the delegation. The list included Hubballi-Dharwad SSK samaj Chief Dharmadarshi Satish G. Meharawade, State President Shashikumar Meharawade and State SSK Samaj secretary Gopal Baddi,

Deputy Dharmadarshis K.P. Pujari and Bhaskar N. Jituri, Honorary Joint Secretary Shankar Habib, and SSK College Chairman Neelakanth P. Jadi were also present. Former Mayor D.K. Chauhan and several trustees also participated.
We talked to attendees who said the meeting was cordial but firm. They emphasized that community trust depends on visible action. “We want accountability, not just promises,” one participant explained.
Similar petitions have been filed in other districts, reflecting growing public pressure. Statistics shared by local groups suggest more than 200 people attended related awareness meetings in Hubballi-Dharwad last week.
HDMC officials noted that social stability is vital for the city’s progress. A related social media embed will highlight reactions from community members and local leaders, showing solidarity and calls for justice.
The petition marked a strong collective voice. Citizens left the commissioner’s office with renewed hope that law enforcement would act decisively against Love Jihad cases.
