Veteran actor Farooq Sheikh dies at 64, Bollywood shocked.

Veteran actor Farooq Sheikh,65, who is famous for movies like “Chashme Baddoor”, “Saath Saath”, “Bazaar”, “Umrao Jaan”, “Shatranj Ke Khiladi”, “Noorie” has passed away due to heart attack on Saturday Dec 28, 2013 in Dubai.


He was famous for working in common man roles with critically acclaimed directors like Muzaffar Ali, Sai Paranjape, Shyam Benegal, Satyajit Ray and Saagar Sarhadi. He successfully hosted television show ‘Jeena Isi Ka Naam Hai’ that brought film stars and their life journey while recollecting their memories. He was seen as Ranbir Kapoor’s father in “Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani” and his last movie was “Club 60” with actress Sarika.

The Bollywood fraternity was left shocked and celebs like Amitabh Bachchan, Shekhar Kapur, Mahesh Bhatt, Karan Johar etc. took to Twitter to express their grief.Actress Deepti Naval, with whom Farooq’s pairing was very famous said that it is unbelievable and she is in a state of shock. The actress got teary saying that he was one of the finest actors in the film industry.

Megastar and actor Amitabh Bachchan Megastar said that Farooq Sheik was a true gentleman and a wonderful colleague, who was quiet honest with no pretence in his demeanour. He also revealed that Farooq was the only person to congratulate him after the Swedish Investigator revealed in the Bofors matter that his name was deviously ‘planted’.

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan posted on his Twitter page that he felt “sorry” for not having spent enough time with the actor. Shah Rukh had worked with Farooq Sheikh in “Maya Memsaab”.
