After 20 long years of war, the Taliban have swept to victory in Afghanistan in the last week as the US and its allies announced their withdrawal from the nation. This clash has taken the lives of hundreds of innocent people across the country; women and girls are petrified, people are leaving the country seeking passage to safer territories.

In short, human rights and humanity is at utter stake in Afghanistan. To prevent this humanitarian crisis & to support the people of the troubled country, many nations worldwide are coming forward to extend a helping hand towards those less fortunate ones.

Countries like- India, Germany, Canada, France, Greece, Sweden, United Kingdom, Switzerland, Turkey, Iran, Australia, Italy, Belgium, Indonesia, Tajikistan, etc., are offering shelters to the Afghan refugees. They are executing various strategies for the safe evacuation of the people facing Taliban threats.

On the other hand, countries including Austria, Hungary, and Russia are refusing to help and making it clear that they would not welcome any Afghan refugees in their countries.

“Germany is going to give refuge to up to ten thousand at-risk Afghans,” said chancellor Angela Merkel. Iran has set up emergency tents in its three border provinces for the influx of Afghan refugees.

Canada would provide refuge to twenty thousand Afghan people, including women leaders and government employees facing Taliban risks. The government of the United Kingdom has announced to take up to five thousand refugees, which would include women, children, and those at risk of persecution.
