The 71st Golden Globe Awards took place in Beverly Hilton Hotel, California, on Sunday, January 12, 2014. Actresses Tina Fey and Amy Poehler were hosting the HFPA’s (Hollywood Foreign Press Association) ceremony for the third time in a row.
Nine-time Golden Globe nominee, Leonardo DiCaprio finally won his second Globe award for his work in “The Wolf of Wall Street”. “American Hustle”, won the best picture, best actress for Amy Adams and best supporting actress award for Jennifer Lawrence in comedy or musical category. Actress Cate Blanchett was awarded best actress in drama for “Blue Jasmine” while Matthew McConaughey received best actor in drama for “Dallas Buyers Club”.
While the movie “12 Years a Slave” was judged as Best motion picture, Alfonso Cuaron won Best director award for “Gravity”. TV drama “Breaking Bad” won best screenplay and best actor award for Bryan Cranston. Amy Poehler was given best actress in Television for “Parks and Recreation”. TV comedy series “Brooklyn Nine – Nine” won best television series and best actor award for Andy Samberg in comedy or musical category.
Actor, writer, producer and director Woody Allen won a lifetime achievement award for his work of more than four decades. Actress Diane Keaton famous for her role in Woody Allen’s movie “Annie Hall” accepted the award on his behalf.
