Hindi political drama “Satyagraha”, directed by Prakash Jha is released on Aug 30, 2013. The movie has a stellar star cast like Amitabh Bachchan, Kareena Kapoor, Ajay Devgn in principal roles, with Manoj Bajpai, Amrita Rao and Arjun Rampal in supporting roles.
Primarily shot in Bhopal, “Satyagraha” has been produced by UTV Motion Pictures which had scored success by collaborating on blockbuster hits like “Yeh Jawani hai Deewani” and “Chennai Express”.
Made on a budget of Rs 50 crore (US $8.0 million) , “Satyagraha” is releasing across 3300 screens in India and 450 screens overseas.
The movie is of 2hrs 20 mins duration and is aimed at dealing with corruption in India following Gandhian principles. After Jha’s successful drama like “Raajneeti” and an average movie “Aarakshan”, the hopes on “Satyagraha” have been positive.
Being a solo Bollywood release, “Satyagraha” is bound to benefit from the positive reviews pouring in.
Taran Adarsh of Bollywood Hungama gave the movie 4 stars out of 5 while Srijana Mitra Das of Times Of India gave it 4.5. India Today gave the movie 4 out of 5 stars calling it as a timely wake-up call for a wounded nation.
Taran Adarsh tweeted on Tuesday on the latest business done by the movie, he stated, “#Satyagraha [Week 2] Fri 1.28 cr, Sat 1.72 cr, Sun 2.26 cr, Mon 1.08 cr. Grand total: Rs 61.77 cr nett.”
The movie is not expected to have a big opening owing to the genre. But the collections are expected to escalate having a good box-office run.
