“Gravity”, “12 Years a Slave” and “American Hustle” are leading the number of nominations for Oscar awards.
“American Hustle” movie got 10 nominations including nominations for best picture and best director for David O. Russell. Amy Adams got best actress in a leading role nomination, Christian Bale for best actor, Jennifer Lawrence for best supporting actress and Bradley Cooper received best actor in a supporting role nominations.
Adaptation of Solomon Northup’s memoir, “12 Years a Slave” secured nine nominations with a best acting nomination for Chiwetel Ejiofor, best picture, best adapted screenplay and best direction for Steve McQueen. Michael Fassbender and Lupita N’yongo got nominated for supporting roles for the film.
“Gravity,” earned 10 Oscar nominations including best picture, cinematography, film editing, score, best direction for Alfonso Cuarón and best actress nomination for Sandra Bullock.
There are just nine nominees for best picture in 2013 that include “12 Years a Slave”, “American Hustle”, “The Wolf of Wall Street”, “Nebraska”, “Her”, “Captain Phillips”,”Philomena”, “Gravity” and “Dallas Buyers Club”.
Actor Jonah Hill was nominated for the second time in supporting actor category for “The Wolf of Wall Street.” The actor was nominated earlier for “Moneyball” in 2012. Leonardo DiCaprio got nominated for “The Wolf of Wall Street,” which received total five nominations despite mixed reviews.
Actress Cate Blanchett is being considered as a strong contender for best actress award for Woody Allen’s “Blue Jasmine”. “The Lone Ranger” got two nominations – for visual effects and makeup with hairstyling.
