The Bharat Bandh has been called by the Sanyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) on the first anniversary of enacting the three farm laws by the government i.e., on September 27, 2021.
This Bharat Bandh will be observed from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m., and all the government and private offices, educational institutions, shops, industries will be closed across the country.
Due to this, the traffic may disrupt during the 10-hour general strike. The police force will be in action to prevent farmers and the opposition parties from disrupting the normal routine by putting a security arrangement.
Farmers block, road, rail, and airports
The farmers have blocked the Mohali Airport Road at the five places, including Sohana Singh Shaheedan Gurdwara, Sectors 78-79 Chowk, Chhat village light point, Derri, Landran Chowk, Sandra village, connecting the airport road to the Kharar-Banur road in the Mohali district of Punjab.
Farmers have also blocked the Chandigarh-Ambala road at Dappar toll plaza, Lalru, Zirakpur, and Handesra road section that falls in the Punjab area Ambala-Naraingarh road.
However, all the emergency and essential services, including hospitals, medical stores, and people attending to personal crises, will be free from all obligations, SKM said. Several guidelines have been put forward for complete peace during the strike. The union has appealed to all the citizens to join the Bharat Bandh.
The Bharat Bandh, called by SKM, a collective union of more than 30 farmer organizations protesting the three farm laws, has gained support from more than 500 farmer organizations, 15 trade unions, political parties, six state governments, and others as per the claims of the farmer’s leaders.
Organizions participating
The states extending their support to the protest and the Bharat Bandh are Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Kerala, Punjab, and Tamil Nadu have extended their support to this Bharat Bandh protest. The left parties like the Communist Party of India, the Communist Party of India (Marxist), Revolutionary Socialist Party, All India Forward Bloc.
The other parties in opposition like the Congress, Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), SAD-Sanyukt, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Samajwadi Party (SP), Janata Dal (Secular), Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), Yuvajana Sramika Rythu (YSR) Congress Party, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and Swaraj India and some others have also extended their support to the call for Bharat Bandh on Monday.
Central trade unions will organize a protest rally at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi at 11 a.m. on Monday.
