‘Highway’ movie review: Alia Bhatt and Randeep Hooda fail to impress

Hindi drama movie “Highway”, written and directed by Imtiaz Ali starring Randeep Hooda and Alia Bhatt in the lead roles is released worldwide on February 21, 2014. The movie is released in 2,000 screens.

The film is produced by Sajid Nadiadwala and Imtiaz Ali under Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment production and Window Seat Films. “Highway” was screened at the 2014 Berlin International Film Festival in the Panorama section.

The music is composed by A.R. Rahman with lyrics by Irshad Kamil. The cinematography was done by Anil Mehta and Resul Pookutty has done the film’s sound design.

The shoot took place mainly on highway roads of Delhi, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Punjab and Kashmir. Some scenes were shot the sand dunes in Kuchaman valley.

The films songs “Maahi Ve” and “Patakha Guddi” were on top and second position on iTunes India as singles.

A special screening of the film at the PVR Cinemas in Mumbai was attended by critics and stars like Pooja Bhatt, Mahesh Bhatt, Mukesh Bhatt, Imtiaz Ali, Shazahn Padamsee, Bhushan Kumar and Rekha.

Srijana Mitra Das for The Times of India gave the movie 3.5 stars out of 5 while Mumbai Mirror the film 4 out of 5. One India in its review said that the film is must watch. Saibal Chatterjee of NDTV gave the film 3 stars out of 5 saying it is a road movie with a difference.
