Asia Cup 2014: Shahid Afridi fires against India, Bangladesh, powers Pakistan into finals

Pakistan’s staggering win in last match against Bangladesh in Asia Cup 2014 on March 4, can be credited to Shahid Afridi in many ways.

Shahid Afridi agrees to have license to fire under pressure!

His blazing 59 runs from 25-balls got Pakistan back in a match, and Afridi announced with pomp that he always had the confidence of scoring runs when needed, and the situation gave him the much needed license to play those stunning shots.

With huge seven sixes and two massive fours, his innings changed the game for Pakistan that seemed to be struggling at 225-5 in the 42nd over.

Afridi went on to say that he had the license and considered that a win was possible, which made him take the chance. Beyond any doubt, he was the Man of the Match for the day. The senior cricketer also congratulated Bangladesh on their massive score of 326.

One can certainly sense the confidence of Shahid Afridi when he clearly says he does need coaching, but has confidence to pull off on the pitch that’s good for batting.

Captain Misbah-ul-Haq of Pakistan also praised Afridi’s fantastic knock, saying it’s impossible to stop Afridi when he is in good form.

It’s not just his own team, but even Bangladesh skipper Mushfiqur Rahim went on to praise that when Afridi started scoring runs against their best bowlers, very little can be done.

Shahid Afridi ODI fifty yesterday was the joint-second fastest, and certainly took the much seemed winning situation from Bangladesh. Pakistan will now battle it for the Asia Cup on Match 8th against Sri Lanka.
