According to reports that surfaced today, March 7, 2014, the detention of Arvind Kejriwal by Gujarat police, the leader of the new, but highly popular, political party in India, Aam Aadmi Party, has spread like wildfire and supporters of the political party have been showing their continued patronage by donating to the cause.
Going by the figures, the political party received around Rs 24.05 lakh as donations by 1,544 donors, a figure that is nearly four times the amount that the party received on March 4, 2014.
This amount is the highest received by the political party as donations in the last three weeks. The last time such a spike in donations was seen, was when Mr. Kejriwal resigned as the Chief Minister of the country’s capital, Delhi.
At that time, the party received around Rs 29.45 lakh on the day after Mr. Kejriwal announced his resignation, and Rs 25.59 lakhs on the second day after his announcement.
Going by the donations it seems that the people of the country really care about him and are ready to support him whenever he gets into any sort of trouble.
However, it is a fact that such incidents cannot be predicted or replicated just to boost the donations and hence Kejriwal and the Aam Aadmi Party will definitely require more funds if they have to make any significant impact in the upcoming General Lok Sabha Elections in the country.
