On Monday, February 28, 2022, President Biden spoke to America’s allies about their combined and coordinated efforts regarding Russia. Today is the Fifth day of Russia’s continuous attacks and its invasion of Ukraine.
Discussion of several leaders in the meeting
Several country leaders discussed their synchronized efforts to maintain global stability. The leaders also agreed to provide every possible support to Ukraine and its people. The 1½ hour call was hosted by President Joe Biden, comprised of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau French President Emmanuel Macron.
Prime Minister Bois Johnson of the United Kingdom, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, Chancellor Olaf Scholz of Germany, and European Council President Charles Michel. Several other leaders present on the call were the NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg, Japan Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, Mario Draghi- Italy’s Prime Minister of Italy, President Andrzej Duda of Poland the President Klaus Iohannis of Romania.
White House statement
According to the White House, the leaders discussed their combined efforts to hold Russia accountable. On Monday, hours after the call ended, Biden said America does not have any reason to be about nuclear weapons. “The leaders recognized the bravery of the Ukrainian people in the face of Russian aggression and discussed their continued support to Ukraine, including security, economic, and humanitarian assistance,” according to the White House.
