Faridabad Teen Commits Suicide; Family Accuses The School Of ‘Bullying Over Sexuality’

On Thursday, February 25, a class 10 boy attending Delhi Public School in Greater Faridabad committed suicide, leaving behind a letter blaming his school for bullying.

The mother of the adolescent boy, who also works as a teacher at the same school, said that her child was bullied because of his sexuality.
“The school has killed me… especially higher officials,” he said in a suicide note found at his home.

Under Section 306 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), an FIR has also been filed against the school’s academic head (abetment of suicide).

“The police are starting an inquiry on the family’s complaint,” according to reports, and the school has expressed “deep regret” at the student’s death. “We demand an impartial inquiry to find out the truth and clear the school,” the family stated.

According to the boy’s mother, a group of schoolboys reportedly sexually molested her child in the bathroom at his school in March 2021. Then, in September 2021, she said she “made a verbal complaint to the authorities” before “writing an email.”

The boy’s mother also stated that her kid had dyslexia and had difficulties completing number issues in her complaint.

According to her complaint, she blamed the school principal for criticizing her child on February 23 when he asked her for assistance in answering a math problem during an examination.

The principal not only threatened the boy’s promotion to the next grade but also told him that “he took advantage of his condition and we both mother and son are playing theatre,” according to the boy’s mother.
“Only the school administration is to blame for my son’s death,” she continued in her complaint.
