Basavaraj Bommai, the Chief Minister of Karnataka, met with Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in New Delhi on Wednesday to highlight important issues in the state, such as the state’s outstanding GST contribution and irrigation projects. Throughout his two-day travel to the national capital, Bommai met BJP President J P Nadda and is expected to see Home Minister Amit Shah, as per the Chief Minister’s office. In addition, Bommai is expected to address the state cabinet enlargement, as said by BJP sources, as the BJP government in the state approaches its final lap before the forthcoming Assembly elections in April 2023.
However, Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai rebuked Telangana IT Minister KT Rama Rao on Tuesday for urging that businesses leave Bengaluru and relocate to Hyderabad. According to the state finance department, Bommai approved a 2.75 percent raise in the Dearness Allowance (DA) for state government workers on Tuesday, with retroactive introduced in January this year. In several events, Karnataka Chairman Minister Basavaraj Bommai said on Tuesday that he could meet with BJP chairman J P Nadda and Home Minister Amit Shah to discuss the problem amid rumours over a cabinet reshuffle.

Bengaluru state police officially started collecting microphones from worship venues that reportedly breached court rulings on noise pollution after numerous right-wing Hindu organizations launched demonstrations against the playing of ‘Azaan’ via speaker system at mosques. On Tuesday, city police commissioner Kamal Pant announced that many microphones had been collected from religious establishments where court orders had been disobeyed. The police have filed charges, and the operation will soon begin to examine the permitted volume level before taking action, he said.
